Justification:
I chose several different poems initially but this one has been a favorite of mine for a very long time. Originally, I was wanting an original piece of music to incorporate into the final piece but, having found this "Punch Brothers, Punch" song on a public domain site, I immediately thought it was as playful and nostalgic as the poem itself. Whimsical as it is, the song is also infectious and nonsensical. These aspects tie closely in with the sort of "plight" of the poet, and why we tolerate them, that Mark Twain describes in "Genius". Their labors are self-inflicted and destructive only because they chose for them to be, and we delight in their work only if they're the fruit of a miserable and horrid existence of the poet; it's a vicious cycle.
